Lincoln Prep is a Type II charter school located in Grambling, Louisiana. Our school is a college preparatory school, and we work hard to prepare our students for post secondary success. Our student body consists of students from seven parishes across north Louisiana (Bienville, Claiborne, Jackson, Lincoln, Ouachita, Webster, and Union). This year we are focusing on connecting those students to our thriving community of Lincoln Parish. Lincoln Parish has so much to offer in the area of higher education, industry, business, and commerce. On Monday, October 15, 2018, Lincoln Preparatory School will hold report card mentoring sessions for all 6th-12th grade students. This program will be sponsored by the Future Teachers of America Club at Lincoln Prep. This program will be called the PAWS (Panthers Are Winners @ School) Program. The purpose of this program is to show students that they have academic support from their Lincoln Parish community and organizations that promote academic success. We are inviting representatives from our Adopt-A-School partners, local colleges and universities, and state partners to participate. We already have a team of five LOSFA members who are committed to this program. The LOSFA team members will be at the school the entire day. We would like to encourage you or your organization to participate in this program as well. This is a great opportunity for business and school connections, college recruitment, service learning hours for college students, and a great experience for future teachers. We want our students to know that our community cares about their achievement. Every student that participates in this program will have signed permission slips, FERPA forms and media release forms completed. The program will be held all day beginning at 8:30 AM. We will hold the "conferences" in designated rooms at our school. There will be several mentors in each room. We have approximately 325 students that will be eligible to participate, so we need several volunteers. We understand that you may not be able to participate all day, but even a small commitment would help. At the report card conferences, we would like for "mentors" to offer support and inquire about students’ personal and school interests. Mentors can also give suggestions about what students can do to improve their chances of future success and talk about how classes contribute to graduation and college acceptance. Please let me know if you or your representatives can participate in this program. If you have any questions, you can call me at 318-245-1230 or email me at mcolvin@lincolnprep.school. We truly appreciate your consideration.
