Dee Alexander
The Gale and Lucy Chumley family
The Music Man follows, Harold Hill, a fast-talking salesman/con man as he convinces the people of River City, Iowa, that they need instruments and uniforms for a boys' band. Mr. Hill promises to organize this band despite the fact that he knows absolutely nothing of music, much less how to conduct a full band. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a decent, respectable citizen by the finale.
