To express appreciation for our local veterans, the City of Ruston and Louisiana Tech will be hosting the 3rd Annual Ruston's Veteran's Day "Honoring Our Heroes" Celebration on Friday, November 9.
The program will kick-off with a parade at 10 a.m. The parade route will begin in the parking lot of the old Police Jury location, turn west on Alabama St. to Tech Drive then south on Tech Drive to West Railroad Ave and end at the site of the AVTT Wall just south of Railroad Ave.
The remainder of the ceremony will be held at Louisiana Tech Campus Greenway on Tech Drive at 11:00 a.m. Ceremonial activities will immediately follow, including the presenting of colors, laying of the wreath, POW MIA Presentation, and guest speaker, The Honorable State Representative Patrick Jefferson.
The AVTT Traveling Vietnam Wall is coming to Ruston, LA from Nov. 7-11 in honor of Veterans Day. This 80% replica of the Vietnam Wall is 360 feet long and includes every name from the permanent wall in Washington D.C.
The wall will be located on the Louisiana Tech Campus Greenway on the corner of W. Railroad Ave. and Tech Drive. Viewing is free to the public and is available from Thursday, November 8 at 12:00 p.m. through Sunday, November 11 at 6:00 a.m.
