You are cordially invited to the Beating Hearts: Stories of Domestic Violence Exhibition by Kate Sartor Hilburn and Terrie Queen Autrey, presented by D.A.R.T., Domestic Abuse Resistance Team in honor of National Domestic Abuse Awareness Month. This exhibition will be open from October 4 - November 9, 2018 at Ruston Artisans Gallery Venue. The Opening Reception will be held on October 12, 2018 from 6 – 8pm, which will include D.A.R.T.’s annual vigil reading of names to acknowledge the people murdered by domestic violence in our area. This event is free and open to the public.
A portrait of Mayor Ronny Walker, painted and donated by artist Danny Helms, will be auctioned at 7:00 pm with proceeds benefiting D.A.R.T.
Ruston Artisans and D.A.R.T., in partnership Lincoln Parish Achieve, NCLAC, and Louisiana Tech School of Design, have also released a Poster Competition. Ten high school students were selected from Lincoln Parish to create artwork for a poster that will be used by D.A.R.T. for Dating Violence Awareness Month in February 2019. In addition, the winning artwork will receive a $100 prize. All submitted entries will be exhibited at the Beating Hearts Exhibition reception when the competition winner will be announced.
