The beauty of Karen Carpenter and her music has fascinated audiences for years and made her one of the most loved music icons over the years. Now, we get to relive the magic as Lisa Rock and her tribute group come to the Lincoln Parish Library. “Closer to You: A Tribute to the Carpenters” will be at the Lincoln Parish Library on Tuesday, January 23 at 6:00 p.m. in the Library Events Center. This event is free and open to the public, so no one has to miss the soulful, gorgeous music of this musical icon. Lisa Rock has immersed herself in the music of the Carpenters, so there should be no surprised that people have commented on how well she channels the sound of Karen Carpenter. She wrote more than 15 original cabarets before she began bringing this marvelous Carpenter tribute. She is a phenomenal musician, and she has often had her voice compared to Karen’s own sound. Together with the music director Ken McMullin, she has put together this ultimate tribute experience for communities like ours, bringing a live Carpenters experience unlike anything else. You won’t want to miss it! This event is sponsored by the Lincoln Parish Library as part of a block booking through the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council and RUPAR.
