Camp Rock
Piney Hills Harmony Chorus of Sweet Adelines is switching gears during its summer guest night series and is moving from "Camp Solid Rock," which featured gospel, to "Camp Rock," which, as its name suggests, spotlights rock music. For four consecutive Thursdays – from July 12 to Aug. 2 – the chorus is encouraging area women and girls age 12 and above to sing with them as they learn "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and the Eagles' "Heartache Tonight." The arrangements are in four-part a cappella harmony and accommodate voices of all ranges. Participants will sing with the chorus from 6-7:30 p.m. while the group learns these new numbers. If interested, visitors can then remain until 9 p.m. for the rest of rehearsal. Music-reading ability is not required to participate in "Camp Rock" or to sing in the chorus. The chorus meets in the fellowship hall of the Presbyterian Church of Ruston, 212 N. Bonner.
